Badland Bumpers Sliders

Installed September 16, 02

Toyota 4Runner Topsites

First off.  The man  is a perfectionist.  I'm pretty anal about what goes on my rig.  Jeff met all my expectations and more.  As you will see by the photos,  Jeffs sliders are top notch.

My first visit to BadLand.  Jeff and I discussed various styles of sliders and shape of metals to use.  Whether to weld or bolt etc.  My final decision  was to go tube and I decided to go with a combination weld/bolt.  Corey  had this done on his 91.

sliders.jpg (197250 bytes)My next visit was to get the sliders installed.  A slight error in measurement and Jeff had to cut angarnotched.jpg (499946 bytes) inch off.  Boy was he pissed.  This was not a bad thing.  When I returned for the final fitting and install Jeff surprised me and notched the end of the sliders  to contour with my rear fender flares.  It made the sliders look more stock-like.   Very sweet.

pinch2.jpg (283720 bytes)Prior to welding the sliders to the frame Jeff trimmed the pinch welds .  This way when weight is applied to the sliders the pinch welds won't be affected.  Doing this also alleviates the sliders from banging on the seam when going over bumps and potholes on the road.

For added strength Jeff welded  gussets to the tube that holds the sliders and the frame . bracket01.jpg (564315 bytes)

demoinfrt.jpg (560432 bytes)I have them angled enough so as give me the clearance I need yet they will still detour those who don't have control of there car doors.  The sliders stick out from the flares 3/8 inch.  Jeff did this all by eye.  When I came home I measured each corner and they all measured 3/8 inches out from the flare.

highlifttest.jpg (58998 bytes)The end result is some beautiful looking sliders.  They held up to the HighLift test and serve as steps sodesmoprofile.jpg (548466 bytes) I can now get to the roof of the 4runner again (one thing I missed about loosing the running boards).

For traction I put 3M outdoor Tread (Black) on the sliders.

Update

The tread worked great however its working too well.  I found that the tread acts as rough sandpaper to the back of the legs when I try to get in and out of the rig (OUCH!!).  Its also is ruining the back of my jeans and slacks .  I may switch to 3M Indoor/Outdoor Tread (gray) as it is made of rubber.  The downfall to it is that it only comes in gray.  I'm also thinking of getting the top of the sliders Line-X.

Jeff does great work but he does need time to fab to your specs.  All of his sliders are made to order.  The advantage to this is your sliders will be made to your liking.  It may take a little longer but you won't be disappointed.
